Houseplants safe for cats and dogs
Confirmed non-toxic to cats and dogs by ASPCA.
17 plants in this cluster
Every plant on this page is listed as non-toxic to both cats and dogs by the ASPCA's toxic and non-toxic plant database. We do not infer non-toxicity from related species — if a plant isn't on ASPCA's list, it doesn't appear here.
“Non-toxic” means ingesting the plant is not expected to cause systemic harm. It does not mean a pet should eat it. Vomiting or mild digestive upset can happen with any plant material in quantity, and some pets simply react to a particular species.
This list is smaller than you might expect. Most “pet-safe houseplant” articles online lump together plants that are non-toxic, plants believed to be non-toxic, and plants that just aren't on ASPCA's known-toxic list. Those are three different things; only the first is on this page.
