Vining and climbing houseplants
Climb a support or trail down — versatile structural plants.

Vining houseplants are the showpieces. They climb a moss pole and grow larger, mature leaves with character; or they trail from a shelf in their juvenile form. The same plant can look entirely different depending on what you give it to grow on.
Most popular indoor vines are in the Araceae family — monsteras, philodendrons, pothos. They share a common care profile: bright indirect light, well-draining soil, and tolerance for inconsistent watering.
Climbing versions need more space and a structure; trailing versions need a shelf and pruning. Either way, propagation is easy — most root readily from stem cuttings.
